FAQ
When should my child come in for an eye exam?
At 1 year old is the earliest. At 3 years old we can do a more comprehensive examination since this is the age we can assess for colour vision, eye muscle coordination concerns, and get a proper glasses prescription. Your child does not need to know their numbers or letters. We have picture recognition and other methods to assess vision without feedback.
Do you do the air puff test?
No, our clinic does not perform the air puff test. We check your eye pressures using a different equipment to measure without an air puff. An eye drop is place before the test and a harmless blue or white light will shine during the test. It takes about 5-10 seconds to check your eye pressures which is done at your annual comprehensive eye exam.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No, referral required. Simply, give us a call or email us to book an appointment. If you’re diabetic and taking medication, you will need a referral letter from your family doctor or endocrinologist.
Do you offer direct insurance billing?
Yes, at the Oak Ridges Eye Care location. Submission is made easy by our staff. Depending on how your insurance is set up, we may be able to submit on your behalf. Otherwise, a receipt will be offered at the end of the exam for you to claim. Keep in mind, not all insurance plans allow for direct billing. Direct billing is a courtesy service and may not always be available at time of service.
At Dr. Tiffany Sum and Associates location, we offer a digital or paper receipt for you to claim at your convenience.
